Summary of Teacher Spring Wishlist 2023
Every year WEF participates in the Whitefish Community Foundation Great Fish Challenge. Money raised from this challenge is used to fund Teacher Wish List items; teachers requested items they feel would enhance the educational experience of Whitefish Students.
This school year, we funded $35,887 in Wish List grants:
$12,498 to Muldown, $14,342 to Whitefish Middle School, and $9,047 to Whitefish High School.
Items purchased included books, storage, headphones, flexible seating options, and articles for gym, science, math, and art classes. We also helped the music program with helping update their rental instruments for orchestra and band, as well as updating some of the percussion instruments for drumline.
Additionally, we funded Stumptown Art Studio to work with our 2nd graders for a ceramics lesson and a fun, collaborative art piece with high school students and the 1st graders to be displayed in the conference room.
We also helped with some items Muldown needed in their new building (bookcases for the library and audio-visual for the gym when split in 2).
We funded new and innovative items like supplies for the National Archery in School Program and beekeeping items for the Regenerative Agriculture class.
Over the past three years, Band Director Matt King and the High School Band have aimed to replace our decades-old mismatched drumline that was pieced together from used sales. The generous WEF grants have allowed them to make purchases systematically, and the high school drumline is now outfitted with a complete matching set of top-of-the-line Pearl marching percussion instruments and carriers!
Look for the drumline around town in parades and events showing off their fantastic equipment courtesy of WEF. The Whitefish High School band department is thankful for the support for many years!
Finally, we funded health and well-being items like wheelchairs, AED trainers, and CPR manikins.
